School Sport NZ, in partnership with Touch NZ, NZ Cricket, NZ Secondary School Athletics Association, and the Condors Rugby Club, are pleased to announce that all events impacted by the NCEA exam period delay have been successfully rescheduled outside the NCEA examination window.
School Sport NZ would like to thank these organisations for their support of schools and for their considerable efforts to reschedule events in such a short timeframe and in a very condensed window of opportunity to redeliver events. The confirmation of these events ensures thousands of Rangatahi from across the country will have access to several high-quality experiences at a time when so many have unfortunately been taken away with the cancellation of Winter Tournament Week.
The confirmed schedule is as follows:

Given the condensed window that our partners have had to reschedule these events within, it is unfortunately inevitable that clashes between events have occurred.
In assessing the viability of rescheduling events to avoid clashes, our partners have reported consistent and shared challenges, most notably the ability to access the vast number of staff, volunteers and qualified referees that ensure these events can go ahead. As such, the window to deliver events within became smaller again with the weekend of the 18th/19th being the only viable option.
Our sport partners will provide event specific updates in due course that we will share through the School Sport NZ website and newsletter function.

The Government has confirmed the following updates:
As of Wednesday 1st September, all areas south of Auckland will move to Alert Level 3
Northland will remain at Alert Level 4 until at least 11:59pm on Thursday 2 September
Auckland will remain at Alert Level 4 for at least another 2 weeks, with a review on Monday 13 September.
As previously confirmed, events on the School Sport NZ calendar will not be able to continue where the region hosting the event is at Alert level 3 or higher.
As such, and in line with the current Government guidance, events on the School Sport NZ calendar are suspended through to 11.59pm, Tuesday 7th September. School Sport NZ will provide updates as they relate to its calendar of events in line with future Government announcements. Some events on the calendar past the suspension date have already indicated that they will be unable to deliver their scheduled events. Schools are reminded to regularly check the School Sport NZ calendar and website for the most up to date announcements.
As we move down and potentially through Alert levels, we are expecting to see changes to the protocols within Alert level settings. Sport NZ will be updating its advice appropriately and have released an update HERE.
